Port Alberni is a friendly city of 18,000, halfway between Parksville and Qualicum Beach on the east coast of Vancouver Island, and Tofino, Ucluelet and Pacific Rim National Park (Long Beach) on the west coast. Long known as the salmon capital of the world, there is much to do, including a visit to the heritage McLean Mill, a National Historic Site, to see olden day milling practices and camp life.
